Jukola – classic finnish night fight

As for Tiomila, the BSK tactic was to go hard from the start – this time with the best man out first, and I had the pleasure running second leg. Carl showed the BSK colors in fine style on the first leg, passing the first two TV controls in front, and lead the pack for most of the 1st leg. I had prepared myself for getting out in front and Carl did the job and finished with the leading pack, a perfect position for me. I was a little anxious about my shape and achilles after 4 weeks with a cold I just couldn’t get rid off and an...

Knock-over and out

Knock-over and out

I have run a few knockout sprints this year and have enjoyed it a lot. I knocked out a few runners in Bergen and got some great knock out sprint training in Turkey against some of the best sprint runners. During the spring I really looked forward to the sprint races at NORT, and to compete against the best in this discipline. Unfortunately I didn’t knock-out many runners this time, instead I knocked myself out. Three weeks with a cold I just can’t get rid of – some suggest I haven’t been drinking enough Hot Choco...

Nordic trouble

First round of NORT, should suit me well and I have looked forward to this sprint race in Oslo. I have been troubled with a cold and a soar achilles the last couple of weeks. The body definitively felt better than last w-end in Skien, so I believed I could do a good race when I stood at the start gate. First real challenge was the leg to 3rd – and I felt that the body didn’t respond as normal and I wasn’t able to push hard. As the splits shows the speed was not there today and the bottom line was a 41st place –  on a...

Norwegian Sprint Champs 2013

Third time is my lucky time…. I have entered the Norwegian Sprint Champs three time, and how crazy it may sound I have had a cold leading up to the races every single time. 2011 in Arendal I probably shouldn’t have raced but made it though from the qualification and did a poor race in the final. 2012 the sprint was in Oslo, but the cold kept under the duna. 2013 Skien – After the Holmenkollen relay I spend a week in Stockholm working and got a cold. Might have been from the waiting between the leg in the HK relay. I had to...

No stress…No worries

Norway Cup April 2013 The O-season opening in Norway for my part, sprint-O in Askim (Norway Cup and WRE). I have rested a few days after the Danish Ultralong Champs. Fueled up with Faxe kondi I therefore felt okay prepared even though I had no idea what the sprint area would look like… No worries, no stress. Stressed: Though I should eventually be a little stressed as the one hour drive to Askim ended up taking two hours and 15 minutes due to a traffic accident on the way. In the end the GPS told me that I would arrive in Askim 3 min...

Sprint, tough start, small margins

Danish sprint Champs Fanø: The Sprint Champs were not suppose to be my first competition for the year, but as I from Easter and going forward have felt tired I skipped the Danish night champs for a w-end with 800 PwC work mates at Trysil, which I don’t regret. For the last two years the preparation for the Sprint & Long DEN champs W-end have been a long XC-skiing tour over 130k with a bunch of PwC adventures from Geilo to Kikut (eventyr løypa). Due to the early Easter this year we have to abandon the plan to repeat the...

Tisvilde Hegn OK best in Denmark once again

Tisvilde Hegn OK best in Denmark once again

Last chance for a Danish championship in orienteering in 2012. So far I have only managed three silver, one bronze medal and a fifth place in the individual Danish champs. Based on history my club Tisvilde Hegn was a hot favorite for winning the Danish Champs for clubs, as all the best runners in most classes were on the start line, including big daddy Olsen and my self. It turned out to be a good day for us, both daddy Olsen, Myself and Tisvilde Hegn OK won today. Therefore Champagne was well deserved as the the only Danish Champs gold...

Footy Grandfinal, kangaroos and AUS sprint champs in Tasmania

It’s not everyday you get an invite to an AFL Grandfinal from a mate Downunder, so ofcourse I couldn’t decline :-) Three days later I was sitting on a plane bound for Melbourne. As a bonus I discovered that the Australian orienteering sprint championships were to take place in Tassie Friday the same week. As usual there is always fantastic service by the locals, with pick up in the airport, dinner, training partner, accommodation and not at least a great company. After an easy Thursday downtown Melbourne, I had a tight...

European Champs 2012 Mora – Qualification races

The first important race in the Danish National jersey in 2012 are over. I was selected to run the Long and Sprint at EOC 2012. The training has been decent the last couple of weeks though I had a setback after the Danish Night Champs due to not enough sleep a couple of days in a row. I missed my flight back to Oslo due to a 1,5 hour train delay due to a faulty signal 500m from the airport … A low training volumen and a few days with many intervalls was the plan to get the body back into speed. I arrived in Orsa late Friday evening...
